20 Feb Isuzu and Honda reach an agreement to research commercial FCVs.
According to Reuters, Honda Motor Co. and Isuzu Motors Ltd have reached an agreement to research the possibility to develop fuel cells for trucks. They consider they will be able to present and test a prototype in two years.
Isuzu has focused on the development of diesel engines for years. Honda seeks an expansion of the use of their fuel cell technology outside the passenger cars. A spokesman of the company said that: “Although we have done extensive R&D into passenger FCVs (fuel cell vehicles), we have not been able to study how best to apply the technology to commercial vehicles”.
This agreement is just one more in a growing trend in the automobile world to join forces in order to compete now that the demand for electric cars is increasing.
